Ethics Awards

Because public trust is the foundation for all successful public relations, an ethical practice is the most important obligation of PRSA members and vital to the integrity of the profession as a whole. PRSA members abide by a Code of Ethics that the organization views as a model for other professions, organizations, and professionals.

Six core values provide the foundation for the Member Code of Ethics and set the industry standard for the professional practice of public relations. They are: advocacy, honesty, expertise, independence, loyalty and fairness. These values are the fundamental beliefs that guide Members’ behaviors and decision-making process.

The PRSA Orlando Regional Chapter annually recognizes an outstanding public relations practitioner with its annual Frank R. Stansberry Ethics Award. Established in 2005, the award is named for local public relations professional, teacher and mentor Frank Stansberry, APR whose 40 year career included serving as president of the Orlando Regional PRSA Chapter, chair of its Sunshine District, and member of its national board of directors. His career is highlighted by his advocacy for the highest ethical standards. His dedication to public relations ethics also has had a profound impact on thousands of young professionals who studied under him at the University of Central Florida and Rollins College.
