Description:
Salamander Hotels & Resorts is seeking a high-energy,
versatile and self-directed public relations manager to work with
its Grand Golf Resorts of Florida collection. The job is based at
Reunion Resort in Orlando and has primary public relations
responsibility for Reunion Resort and Hammock Beach Resort in Palm
Coast, and will also work with Innisbrook Resort in Tampa Bay. The
successful candidate must have exceptional analytical,
organizational and computer skills, show consistent attention to
detail, and have experience pitching media and using public
relations software.
Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates must be able to write clean, compelling
news releases, fact sheets, statements; proactively pitch media on
stories; manage reactive media relations with speed and accuracy;
work with internal departments to develop story ideas; research,
develop, and implement annual comprehensive public relations plans
that support the business objectives of the hotels individually and
together as a brand. Working for and with the corporate director of
public relations, the goal for the candidate is to generate
positive media coverage, elevate brand awareness and presence,
increase market share and ultimately contribute to increased
revenue and profitability.
Skills/Experience
Required:
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
Travel frequently between Reunion Resort (where the job will
have an office) and Hammock Beach Resort, with occasional travel to
Innisbrook
Proactively pitch to national consumer publications, travel
trade publications, daily newspapers, freelance writers, bloggers,
regional daily newspapers, television and radio
Manage reactive media relations inquiries with speed and
accuracy
Package travel trends to create compelling story ideas
Work alongside Salamander's marketing team to align social
media engagement with media relations on Facebook, Twitter and
Foursquare, as well as respond to TripAdvisor comments.
Coordinate media interviews and public speaking
engagements
Maintain online media room and update with timely information
and releases
Facilitate media visits and ensure resulting coverage
Oversee internal communications
Manage media lists and clip reports
Oversee on-site photo and film shoots
Education
Desired or Required:
A four-year college degree in Journalism, Communications,
Public Relations or English is preferred
3-5 years experience in public relations, preferably the
hospitality industry
Knowledge of the Orlando/Florida media market is preferred
