A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) seeks an experienced
Communications Manager to lead the public relations,
marketing, and communications efforts in support of the
organization’s mission.
POSITION SUMMARY
A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) is Central Florida’s primary provider
of the resources and educational tools that enable children to
create, express themselves, problem solve and experience a sense of
accomplishment. The organization has become a major player in the
shared quest to bring about greater academic achievement and
advancement for thousands of high-needs children by providing more

The Communications Manager will grow the AGFT brand through
planning, directing, and implementing marketing communications
activities, including website content, advertising, brand
management, marketing materials, special projects/community
relations, publications, event support, and social media.
Additionally this position will play an integral role as a
member of the Development team while supporting AGFT in its
internal and external communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support efforts to increase public awareness of mission and
vision through regular communication with major stakeholders
(media, funders, community/corporate leaders, teachers, educators,
volunteers, etc.) using tools such as publications/e-newsletters,
e-mails, media alerts/press releases, etc.
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive communications
strategy to support the organization’s mission, goals and
objectives.
Lead and manage a coordinated online presence, including social
media tools and Web site.
Responsible for design of publications, marketing collateral
materials, and audio/visual communication tools.
Assist with creative strategy for campaigns and events such as
annual fundraisers, PUSH campaign, and drives.
Ensure integrity of brand through newsletters, program updates,
program fact sheets, and direct mail letters, as well as all
collateral materials, including event literature, marketing
packets, bulletins, announcements, brochures and exhibit display
boards.
Responsible for co-leading and managing the organization’s
Public Relations and Marketing Committee with the Director of
Development.
Capture and craft AGFT stories of various constituents through
photos, videos, and print to be used in a variety of communication
pieces, including the blog, e-news, and website.
Manage and build relationships with established and new outside
vendors to secure print, graphic design, and/or public relations
services.
Write and/or submit award nominations, and seek out new
opportunities for AGFT and its programs.
Assist other departments in design and transmit of
e-communications.
Provide writing and editing support for all external
communications.
Support a positive and high-functioning work environment by
acting with integrity, honesty, and respectfulness toward
co-workers and participating in team-building activities such as
staff retreats, office celebrations and meetings.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required,
preferably in marketing, communications or related field.
Requires excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
for print and online communications.
Familiarity with AP style desired.
Ability to think strategically, manage multiple projects and
easily adapt to shifting priorities.
Knowledge and passion for digital and emerging media (e.g.
social media, blogs).
Excellent customer service skills when talking in person, on
the phone, email and online.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Experience in managing committees and vendors.
Experience in nonprofits, philanthropy and/or membership
organization desired.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and graphic
design programs (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator).
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage projects
independently.
Ability to work both independently and with a team.
