The overall responsibility of this full-time position is to support communications and marketing needs of the Holocaust Center. These efforts will improve organizational capability to fulfill the needs of our Central Florida community. Additionally, this position will play an integral role as a member of the Development team while supporting the Holocaust Center’s internal and external communications. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Development Manager.
The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida’s mission is to use the history and lessons of the Holocaust to build a just, caring and inclusive community free of antisemitism and all forms of bigotry and prejudice.
RESPONSIBILITIES Communications/Marketing: Lead efforts to increase public awareness of mission and vision through regular communication with major stakeholders (media, funders, community/corporate leaders, teachers, educators,volunteers, etc.) creating and writing e-newsletters, e-blasts, media alerts, press releases, media pitches etc. Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive communications strategy, including an engaging social media plan, to support the organization’s mission, goals and objectives. Regularly create content for and update the Holocaust Center’s online presence via social media platforms, and website. Responsible for the design of marketing collateral materials and audio/visual communication tools. Assist with creative strategy and writing for campaigns and events, such as annual fundraiser, End-of-Year campaign, direct mail campaigns, etc. Ensure integrity of brand by creating and updating e-newsletters, electronic presentations, fact sheets, as well as all collateral materials, including event literature, marketing packets, press kits, flyers, display boards, etc. Capture and craft Holocaust Center stories of various constituents through photos, videos, and print to be used in a variety of communication pieces, including e-news, and website. Ensure communication databases stay current and up-to-date, including Constant Contact and media list. Assist with sponsorship proposals for campaigns and events; ensure that sponsors receive recognition as outlined in proposals. Coordinate with the Holocaust Center’s Marketing Committee, PR agency and contract vendors on campaigns and special projects. Track and regularly evaluate communication tactics, including website and Facebook stats, and record/track media placements Represent and promote the Holocaust Center at outside events; make presentations and host informational tables when given the opportunity. General: Support a positive and high-functioning work environment by acting with integrity, honesty, and respectfulness toward co-workers and participating in team-building activities such as staff retreats and meetings. Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requires excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills for print and online communications. Excellent communication and follow-up skills, both written and interpersonal. Extremely organized with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google analytics, and social media platforms required. Knowledge of and passion for digital and emerging media (e.g. social media). Ability to think strategically and creatively, manage multiple projects and easily adapt to shifting priorities. Ability to speak comfortably and passionately about the Holocaust Center one-on-one and in group settings. Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required. Ability to work both independently and with a team. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in communications-related field.
Experience with Word Press, graphic design programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite), and ConstantContact desired. Familiarity with AP style desired.
Desired or Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field from an accredited institution.
