Job Description:

Edelman Orlando is seeking a dynamic Assistant Account Executive – PR & Digital (AAE) to join a team of talented and collaborative communications professionals. In this position, the AAE will provide traditional PR and digital content/social media support to a variety of account teams spanning industries like health, travel, brand, corporate and more. 

The AAE must have strong interpersonal and communications skills along with the ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced, deadline-based environment. Day-to-Day Account Management

  • Learn about a wide range of clients and master the details of our work with them 
  • Provide client support including preparing client status and activity reports, attending meetings and conference calls, scheduling and logistics 
  • Assist with research including analysis of online/social media conversations and analysis of media coverage 
  • Work on several campaigns at once, sometimes under pressure and often on tight deadlines
  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of social platform updates, popular social culture and trends, including digital advertising and promoted social content
  • Keep up to date with the ever-changing media relations landscape
  • Present ideas to colleagues and clients
  • Strong proofreading skills

PR/Media Relations

  • Write, edit and proofread materials including press releases, pitch emails, fact sheets, reports and client correspondence
  • Build media lists and pitch media; research and develop recommendations related to media inquiries and opportunities; monitor for rapid response opportunities and brainstorm ideas for proactive outreach 
  • Build a network of traditional and online media 
  • Coordinate projects and events including inviting influencers/media, attending events, and preparing reports 
  • Track, compile and analyze media coverage 

Digital Content/Social Media

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the social media industry and basic principles of community management/engagement
  • Write clear, persuasive, original copy
  • Develop and maintain editorial calendars
  • Oversee tone and language of social campaigns through the production stage to completion
  • Amend, revise or redevelop digital content in response to feedback from the creative director, account team and clients
  • Liase with Strategic Planners and interpret their strategic briefs and analysis to understand content performance
  • Work includes social copywriting for digital/social media platforms, but may also include website copy, taglines, or campaign messaging. Writing projects should start with a solid creative idea, so your ability to come up with creative concepts is a big plus.

Basic Qualifications:

This is an entry-level account position. An assistant account executive will possess good interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively with a variety of account service staff within a specific set of accounts. Agency experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

S/he will have excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines. S/he will have solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, general office logistics and will pass a writing test. S/he will have an interest in pursuing a career in integrated communications, including PR and digital content/social media. S/he must have a strong work ethic and dedication to consistently provide quality work to his/her team and clients. Previous internship experience in the communications field, especially at an agency, and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
