President's Message
Dear Colleagues,
Happy October to all!
I am hoping to see many of you at the upcoming International PRSA Conference in Philadelphia later this month. The 2007 Assembly, which traditionally takes place prior to the start of the conference, is being attended by Orlando chapter members Dan Ward, APR; Laura Richeson, APR; and me. As many of you know, this is the time to participate in decisions made on behalf of the society on a national level. If you are planning to attend the conference, I look forward to possibly running into you at a session or a networking event. This year's conference registration is at an all-time high, so it should be one of the best ever!
At our September luncheon, we recognized this year's Ethics Award winner, the Institute of Internal Auditors, located in Altamonte Springs. Congratulations again to the IIA! Also, special thanks to Allen Moore, APR, our Ethics Chair, for coordinating the nominating, judging and award presentation of the PRSA Orlando/Frank R. Stansberry Ethics Award.
Coming up this month is the first ever Speed Mentoring Workshop on October 18 at Park Plaza Gardens. In early November, plan to attend the annual Ultimate Mixer, which is a great networking event that we partner with several local associations on and has been a great success for years. There will be more details coming your way soon.
I look forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming events or hearing from you. As always, thank you for your support and for what you do to advance our profession as members of PRSA.

This year's gathering will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Ceviche, a new Spanish tapas restaurant located at Orlando's Church Street Station (129 W. Church St.). This event is open to the public. The cost is $20 for professionals and $15 for college students, which includes a complimentary cocktail and appetizers.
The event is hosted by the Florida Public Relations Association, the Public Relations Society of America, the Orlando Advertising Federation and the American Marketing Association.

Best PR advice you ever received: Get your APR. Truly, getting your APR is one of the best PR investments out there. Anyone who has thought about studying for it should JUST DO IT!
Greatest accomplishment: Being president of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), which I am doing right now. I'm inspired by all of the energy the volunteers bring to the organization.
Favorite thing to do on the weekend: It's a toss-up between reading a good book or going shopping. Even better going shopping for a good book.
